Our main purpose is to promote the sport of snowmobiling by providing education and local trails for everyone to enjoy .

The club and all who join are members of the Michigan Snowmobile Association . We are also a member of the Mid-Michigan Snowmobile Council .

By joining, you are increasing the representation that we have in Lansing and Washington , D.C. on the issues that matter most to all snowmobilers.

By joining today, you can have a voice in state-government matters. You will be doing your part in keeping our trails open in Michigan . You can meet other snowmobilers with a passion for the sport, have a great time, and help to develop and maintain the only trail system in Southeastern Michigan .

We worked on getting the trails open for the first three years. The second year we opened over 50 miles of trails and groomed them at our own expense. The DNR supplied us with all of the signs and pickets that we needed to properly mark the trails. The third year we worked with the MSA and the DNR to get our trails covered by the State Snowmobile Grant program, the club purchased a second drag and negotiated a lease for two 4WD tractors for pulling the drags, the club paid for the lease the first year then we were granted the funds to pay for the tractor leases the next year. Now that we have our grant approved, some of the monies that you pay for your trail permits and sled registrations now stay right here in the thumb. We had to lobby hard (with help from the MSA and the SAC committee) to get the DNR to approve the purchase of two new tractors with tracks and new drags to replace the worn out ones that we had purchased.

We are committed to and continuing to work at increasing the trail system here in the thumb area and promote tourism and recreation opportunities in our area. We are dedicated to making the Thumbs Up Snowmobile Club a prominent feature in the world of snowmobiling.
